French-Russian pianist, Elizaveta Frolova deploys a universe where power is combined with remarkable attention to sound, its colors and its resonances. Hailed for the luminosity of her playing, her lyricism and her stage presence, she has this singular ability to make passion and interiority, virtuosity and economy of gesture coexist. The press particularly highlighted her art of playing with “the limits between sound and silence”, while her interpretations of Rachmaninov and Scriabin have been compared to the great pianistic tradition of Vladimir Horowitz.
Born in Moscow, Elizaveta Frolova began playing the piano at the age of six at the Rostropovich Music School. She continued her training at the Academic College of Music of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Moscow with Vera Chorochina, from the school of Heinrich Neuhaus, and obtained her concert diploma there with the highest distinctions. She then joined the National Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance of Paris, where she studied with Jacques Rouvier and obtained her master's degree. At the same time, she perfected her skills with Igor Lazko at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, before continuing her studies at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan in the class of Giovanni Bellucci.
Laureate of numerous international competitions, including the Yakov Flier and Russian music competitions in Moscow, Maria Yudina in Saint Petersburg, Alexandre Scriabin and Nikolaï Rubinstein in Paris, as well as several international competitions in France, Germany, Sweden and Italy, she developed an international career very early on.
Elizaveta Frolova has performed in venues such as the Grande Salle of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Salle Rachmaninov in Moscow and the Salle Cortot in Paris, and is regularly invited to international festivals. Her concerts have taken her to France, Russia, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Poland, Germany and Sweden. His performances have also been broadcast on radio and television in several of these countries.
The recital occupies a central place in his artistic career. His repertoire, which extends from baroque music to the present day, testifies to a musical curiosity that goes beyond the boundaries of schools and eras. In 2019, she gave an overview with the album Les Siècles de piano, bringing together works by Bach, Rameau, Debussy, Chopin, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov and Scriabin.
Shigeru Kawai Artist, Elizaveta Frolova today shares her concert career with transmission. She regularly gives masterclasses and teaches at the Rueil-Malmaison Conservatory. In 2022, she also co-founded the first Rachmaninoff Competition in Moscow, for which she chaired the jury, with the support of Alexandra Conus Brochard, great-granddaughter of the composer.
From Bach to Scriabin, her approach remains guided by the same quest: to make virtuosity not an end, but the means of free expression, where mastery of the keyboard leaves room for lyricism, color and the intensity of the emotion.
