Valentin Kolesnikov is a Russian tenor who graduated from the Faculty of Culture and Arts of F. M. Dostoevsky State University in Omsk, where he studied drama under Professor I. B. Trusova and V. G. Ostapov, both Honored Artists of the Russian Federation. In 2015, he completed his training at the Accademia Della Lirica Italiana in Bari, Italy.
Guest artist of the Omsk Philharmonic Orchestra since 2016, he was first soloist of the Omsk Musical Theater from 2017 to 2020 before joining, in 2020, the Dmitri Hvorostovsky Opera and Ballet Theater in Krasnoyarsk as a soloist.
In parallel with his activity in Krasnoyarsk, Valentin Kolesnikov is regularly invited by the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theater as well as by the Buryatia Opera and Ballet Theater, where he notably plays Vladimir Igorevich in Prince Igor by Borodin.
His repertoire covers a wide range of lyrical roles, from bel canto to opera French, Italian and Russian romantic. He notably plays Lenski (Eugene Onegin), Alfredo (La Traviata), the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Nemorino (The Elixir of Love), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Gérald (Lakmé), Vaudémont (Iolanta), the Chevalier des Grieux (Manon), Count Almaviva (The Barber of Seville) and Rodolfo (La Bohème).
En 2022, he sings the role of Gérald in Lakmé during the tour of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theater at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. The same year, he played Tsar Berendei in a concert version of Rimsky-Korsakov's The Snow Maiden at the Krasnoyarsk Bell Festival. He also performed at the Primorye Stage of the Mariinsky Theater and at the Sirius Concert Hall in the roles of Gerald and Count Almaviva.
During his career, he worked under conductors such as Peter Feranec, Felix Korobov, Alexander Rudin, Dmitri Yurovsky, Mikhail Tatarnikov, Timur Zangiev and Marius Stravinsky, and collaborated with directors Sergei Novikov, Daniil Dmitriev, Elizaveta Korneeva and Irina Lychagina.
Winner of several competitions, he notably obtained third prize in the Competition of Laureates of the Sobinov Festival in 2023, a diploma of the National Nadejda Oboukhova Competition in 2024, as well as second prize in the A. E. Varlamov International Competition (2017) and the International Classical Music Festival Dialog-classica (2016).
