Georgian tenor Davit Sumbadze received his musical training at the Telavi Musical College and then at the Tbilisi Musical College before graduating from the Georgian State Conservatory in Tbilisi.
He made his debut in 2007 at the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater in the role of Malkhazi in Daisi by Zakaria Paliashvili. Winner of several international competitions, he won First Prize at the Matera Città dei Sassi International Opera Competition and is a double winner of the Robert Massard Opera Competition in Bordeaux in 2015 and 2016.
His repertoire includes Rodolfo (La Bohème), Alfredo Germont (La Traviata), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Don José (Carmen), Hermann (La Dame de Pique) and Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra).
In recent seasons he has appeared in numerous productions in the United Kingdom, notably as Rodolfo with Senbla, as Alfredo Germont at the Wolverhampton Grand Theater as well as in several Ellen Kent International tours of La Bohème, La Traviata and Madama Butterfly. In 2024, he performed Don José in Carmen at the Maria Bieșu National Opera and Ballet Theater in Chișinău.
Among his notable commitments is also the role of Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra at the Opéra National de Bordeaux.
Davit Sumbadze today pursues an international career which leads him to perform in the great Italian, French and Russian opera repertoire.
