A graduate of the <strong>Royal Conservatory of Li\u00e8ge<\/strong>, he perfected his skills with renowned conductors such as <strong>Yuri Simonov, Sir Neville Marriner, Patrick Davin, Ronald Zollman, Pierre Bartholom\u00e9e<\/strong> and <strong>Georges-Elie Octors<\/strong>.<br><br>His career began at just <strong>21 years old<\/strong>, when he took over as musical director of the Orchestra Jean-No\u00ebl Hamal, whom he directed for six seasons, alongside two Li\u00e8ge choirs. Noticed by Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera, then director of the <strong>Op\u00e9ra Royal de Wallonie-Li\u00e8ge<\/strong>, he first became assistant musical director, then conductor. He directed <em>La Belle H\u00e9l\u00e8ne<\/em> and <em>Orph\u00e9e aux Enfers<\/em> by Offenbach, <em>Tosca<\/em> by Puccini and <em>Manon Lescaut<\/em> by Auber. In this latest production, critics particularly highlight his mastery, his intelligence of the score and the manifest confidence of the orchestra (<em>La Libre Belgique<\/em>).<br><br>In <strong>2016<\/strong>, he was invited to the <strong>Op\u00e9ra-Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de Metz<\/strong> to conduct <em>Don Pasquale<\/em> by Donizetti and took over at short notice the musical direction of <em>L'Auberge du cheval blanc<\/em> by Benatzky. He then returned for <em>Faust<\/em> by Gounod, <em>Rigoletto<\/em> by Verdi, the choreographed show <em>Indicible Beethoven<\/em> as well as the French creation of <em>Aucassin et Nicolette<\/em> by Castelnuovo-Tedesco.<br><br>He also developed a regular collaboration with the <strong>Op\u00e9ra de Reims<\/strong>, where he conducts at through the seasons <em>Faust<\/em> by Gounod, <em>Rigoletto<\/em> and <em>La Traviata<\/em> by Verdi, <em>The Inn of the White Horse<\/em> by Benatzky, <em>Carmen<\/em> by Bizet, <em>Aucassin and Nicolette<\/em> by Castelnuovo-Tedesco and <em>Rusalka<\/em> by Dvo\u0159\u00e1k, as well as the concert <em>151<\/em> and, more recently, <em>Once upon a time<\/em>. Over the course of these productions, a real bond is woven with the orchestra. His direction of <em>Rusalka<\/em> is thus praised for its precision, the flexibility of his gesture and the osmosis developed with the musicians (<em>Premi\u00e8re Loge<\/em>).<br><br>In parallel with his lyrical activity, Cyril Englebert cultivates a <strong>symphonic repertoire<\/strong>. At the Li\u00e8ge Philharmonic Hall, he conducts the <em>Winter Concert<\/em>, the <em>Messe du Saint-Sacrement<\/em> by Joseph Jongen and, in 2025, <em>The Rite of the Birds<\/em>. He has also conducted several renowned groups, including the <strong>Orchestra of the Royal Opera of Wallonia-Li\u00e8ge, the Toulon Opera Orchestra, the Li\u00e8ge Philharmonic Orchestra, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong> and the <strong>Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra<\/strong>.<br><br>Attached to transmission, Cyril Englebert finally teaches choral conducting at the Higher Institute of Music and Pedagogy of Namur (<strong>IMEP<\/strong>) as well as the <strong>Royal Conservatory of Li\u00e8ge<\/strong>. From the opera pit to the symphonic repertoire, his career testifies to the same approach to direction: precise without being rigid, attentive to the singing and the performers, and always at the A graduate of the <strong>Royal Conservatory of Li\u00e8ge<\/strong>, he perfected his skills with renowned conductors such as <strong>Yuri Simonov, Sir Neville Marriner, Patrick Davin, Ronald Zollman, Pierre Bartholom\u00e9e<\/strong> and <strong>Georges-Elie Octors<\/strong>.<br><br>His career began at just <strong>21 years old<\/strong>, when he took over as musical director of the Orchestra Jean-No\u00ebl Hamal, whom he directed for six seasons, alongside two Li\u00e8ge choirs. Noticed by Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera, then director of the <strong>Op\u00e9ra Royal de Wallonie-Li\u00e8ge<\/strong>, he first became assistant musical director, then conductor. He directed <em>La Belle H\u00e9l\u00e8ne<\/em> and <em>Orph\u00e9e aux Enfers<\/em> by Offenbach, <em>Tosca<\/em> by Puccini and <em>Manon Lescaut<\/em> by Auber. In this latest production, critics particularly highlight his mastery, his intelligence of the score and the manifest confidence of the orchestra (<em>La Libre Belgique<\/em>).<br><br>In <strong>2016<\/strong>, he was invited to the <strong>Op\u00e9ra-Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de Metz<\/strong> to conduct <em>Don Pasquale<\/em> by Donizetti and took over at short notice the musical direction of <em>L'Auberge du cheval blanc<\/em> by Benatzky. He then returned for <em>Faust<\/em> by Gounod, <em>Rigoletto<\/em> by Verdi, the choreographed show <em>Indicible Beethoven<\/em> as well as the French creation of <em>Aucassin et Nicolette<\/em> by Castelnuovo-Tedesco.<br><br>He also developed a regular collaboration with the <strong>Op\u00e9ra de Reims<\/strong>, where he conducts at through the seasons <em>Faust<\/em> by Gounod, <em>Rigoletto<\/em> and <em>La Traviata<\/em> by Verdi, <em>The Inn of the White Horse<\/em> by Benatzky, <em>Carmen<\/em> by Bizet, <em>Aucassin and Nicolette<\/em> by Castelnuovo-Tedesco and <em>Rusalka<\/em> by Dvo\u0159\u00e1k, as well as the concert <em>151<\/em> and, more recently, <em>Once upon a time<\/em>. Over the course of these productions, a real bond is woven with the orchestra. His direction of <em>Rusalka<\/em> is thus praised for its precision, the flexibility of his gesture and the osmosis developed with the musicians (<em>Premi\u00e8re Loge<\/em>).<br><br>In parallel with his lyrical activity, Cyril Englebert cultivates a <strong>symphonic repertoire<\/strong>. At the Li\u00e8ge Philharmonic Hall, he conducts the <em>Winter Concert<\/em>, the <em>Messe du Saint-Sacrement<\/em> by Joseph Jongen and, in 2025, <em>The Rite of the Birds<\/em>. He has also conducted several renowned groups, including the <strong>Orchestra of the Royal Opera of Wallonia-Li\u00e8ge, the Toulon Opera Orchestra, the Li\u00e8ge Philharmonic Orchestra, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong> and the <strong>Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra<\/strong>.<br><br>Attached to transmission, Cyril Englebert finally teaches choral conducting at the Higher Institute of Music and Pedagogy of Namur (<strong>IMEP<\/strong>) as well as the <strong>Royal Conservatory of Li\u00e8ge<\/strong>.
